Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that is eventually cause damage to the optic nerve. Most commonly it is caused by increase in pressure of the eyes. It causes damage by affecting the peripheral vision (side vision). Since most are unaware of the slowly progressing visual loss, it is called the thief of sight. It is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide.
